Black & White Easter Eggs
Happy Easter! I’m so pleased warm weather is coming back, and looking forward to celebrating Easter with my family. Every year I try a new egg project, and this year ended up being one of my favorites.
I blew out a dozen white eggs (with a little help) and then decorated each with a different black and white pattern. I used two thicknesses of sharpie, and made an effort to vary techniques and visual weights for each pattern.
I think the overall effect is clean and modern, with a little bit of whimsy from the less-than-perfect hand drawn patterns. I’ve never been one for fussy patterns or pastels, so these are just my taste for holiday decorations.
I think these will look nice beyond Easter and I look forward to figuring out what to do with them next!

How do you “blow-out” the eggs??
Hi Kris,
By removing the yolk and white from inside the egg, I’ve been able to enjoy these for much longer than traditional hard-boiled eggs. To do so, you simply poke a hole with a pin in both sides of the egg, and blow out the yoke! There are plenty of tutorials online – my only caution is that it can often get messy! Good luck!

I too try to make a new type of egg every year. This year I made eggs from denim scraps. Last year I spray painted Ombre eggs. I have seen many collections of egg techniques on the blogs this year and the graphic design of your sharpie eggs has caught my eye over and over again. I love the strong, contemporary design. Found this on pintrest. I LOVE it and needed a new way to do eggs this year. We drew on hard boiled eggs and it was so much fun for my whole family. Even my 2 year old loved it. Thanks for the inspiration. Love your blog.
